PDF to flashcards: from lecture slides to a deck in minutes
Typing is what takes longest when you make flashcards. With Aynora you upload your PDF, choose what matters and the AI writes flashcards from it – which you review before they go into your deck.
How your PDF becomes a deck
- 1Upload a PDF: lecture slides, a script or your notes, up to 20 MB. The first 50 pages of each file are read.
- 2Pick passages: Aynora suggests key passages and graphics automatically. Under “Advanced” you highlight passages yourself, choose pages or draw a frame around a diagram.
- 3Choose a card type: question and answer, cloze, definition, list, why/how or multiple choice.
- 4Review and edit: every card is a suggestion. Change the wording, remove weak cards or create a variant.
- 5Study: the deck is saved and you can start right away. Spaced repetition schedules when each card comes back.
Which PDFs work well?
It works best with PDFs whose text you can select – for example slides or scripts exported from PowerPoint, Word or LaTeX. The AI then reads exactly the text you picked, plus the text of that page as context.
Scanned pages without a text layer work too: mark the area as a graphic and the AI reads it from the image. The same goes for diagrams, tables and sketches in otherwise normal PDFs.
Tips for good cards from PDFs
- Highlight short, precise passages (definitions, lists, processes) rather than whole pages.
- One fact per card: long answers are hard to recall and to rate.
- Use cloze cards for terms and numbers, why/how cards for connections.
- Frame graphics when the labels matter – anatomy, circuit diagrams or process charts, for example.
- Read your cards once after creating them: the AI sticks to the selected content, but it doesn’t replace your own check.
What does it cost?
On Free you create up to 30 new cards from 2 PDFs a month at no cost – enough to try it on a real script. Plus (€2.99/month) allows 15 PDFs and 400 cards, Pro (€5.99/month) 30 PDFs, 800 cards and the voice teacher. All plans can be cancelled monthly.
Frequently asked questions
Can I turn a whole script into cards at once?
Aynora reads the first 50 pages of each file. For longer scripts it’s best to split the PDF into chapters – that also helps you study, since each chapter can get its own deck.
Which language are the cards created in?
You set the language of generated cards in Settings (German, English or Spanish).
Can I edit cards later?
Yes. You can edit or delete cards before saving and later in the deck.
